We are asking you to take part in a study sponsored by the Rehabilitation Services Administration within the U.S. Department of Education. The study is looking at how the abilIT training program affects participant’s job outcomes. The provider site is partnering with Mathematica, the research company that is leading the evaluation of the abilIT training program.

Joining the study is completely up to you. If you agree to be in the study, we will ask you to take a survey that will last about 20 minutes. The survey is mostly about job-related training or services you’ve received, your readiness for work, your attitudes about specific tasks or goals, and your work experience.

Here are some other things to know about this study:
  • The provider site will share information with the study team about you and the services you receive from the program.
  • Your privacy is important to us and we work hard to keep your information safe. The study reports will group your answers with others and will not include your name. We will not share your answers in a way that could identify you. Your answers will only be used for research purposes. While your information will not be disclosed outside of the study team, there may be times when information is shared with a third party, such as court orders or subpoena, or if you appear likely to harm yourself or others.
  • You may change your mind at any time about participating in the study. You can skip any question that you do not want to answer. If you are unsure of how to answer a question, please give the best answer you can.
  • You will also be asked to complete two follow-up surveys. The first will be six months after you complete the abilIT training program. The second will be one year after you complete the abilIT training program. For each follow-up survey that you complete, you will receive a $20 gift card.
  • The study will conduct focus groups with abilIT participants to learn about their experiences with the training program. You may also be invited to participate in a focus group.
  • There are no known risks to participating in the study. Your participation will help us learn about how the abilIT training impacted your job skills and readiness for work.
Please mark whether you agree to be in the study or not. If you have any questions about the study, please contact Mathematica’s survey director, Forest Crigler, at 617-674-8357 or email him at abilITStudy@mathematica-mpr.com.
